Our Intern Story
At Air New Zealand we are focused on supercharging New Zealand’s success. Our summer Digital Intern Programme is in its second year. The interns support us on projects to enhance New Zealand’s success, as well as providing the opportunity for you to kick start your career.
Digital at Air New Zealand is on a transformational journey and we are excited to invite you to be part of it. Recruitment is a two-way process of discovering more about you and sharing information on Air New Zealand’s vision and your place in it.
We are looking for interns across five areas of Digital; Digital Marketing, Data Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering and UX Design.
Courtney - Loyalty, Air New Zealand - University of Auckland Graduate
“I'm a massive plane geek - any plane could fly overhead now and I could tell you exactly what it is. So when I got this job, I actually cried. I help run the Airpoints Store - all of it from woah to go. It's the most amazing opportunity I’ve ever had.”
Laurence - Software Engineering, Air New Zealand - University of Auckland Student
“Being able to draw back the curtain and seeing what's going on in these complex business systems is incredible - you don't think of that when you're sitting on a plane. There's a lot to learn.”
Naomi - User Experience, Air New Zealand - Media Design School Graduate
“Innovation always plays a big part of the way we do things at Air New Zealand. It doesn't matter who you are, if you have an idea you are encouraged to promote it and make it happen. There's a lot of energy. Everyone works together to make a difference and this internship programme gave me the opportunity to contribute my skills to the business's success.”
Edna - Data Science, Air New Zealand - Oxford University Graduate
“We use data to figure out how long on average it takes for aircraft to taxi to the runway - if we can save 10 minutes to flight time estimations, it can open up hundreds of connections for customers at the other end. All of a sudden India is opened up from a 10 minute time saving, for example. I think data is only useful when it's being actioned upon - our whole team really believes that.”
Josh - Digital Platforms Intern, Air New Zealand - University of Auckland Student
