Senior Solutions Architect

As a Solutions Architect, you'll play a pivotal role, guiding the design and implementation of our critical infrastructure and digital platforms.

You’ll join a team committed to staying ahead of the curve, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and MACH principles (microservices, API-first, cloud-native, headless) to revolutionise our digital landscape.

How you'll make an impact

  • Architect and deliver scalable, secure, and efficient enterprise platforms, including container solutions, identity services, observability tools, cloud infrastructure, and microservices deployment environments.
  • Lead the integration of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions using event streams, APIs, and microservices, ensuring optimal performance and seamless connectivity.
  • Advocate and embed MACH architecture principles across digital projects, promoting innovation, agility, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating business needs into robust technical solutions that drive tangible business outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring development teams on best practices in architecture, coding standards, and deployment strategies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions aligned with Air New Zealand’s strategic digital goals.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive architectural documentation, standards, and guidelines.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, ideally within large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of identity management solutions (Azure AD, Okta) and modern observability platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and optimise COTS applications through APIs, event-driven architectures, and other integration methodologies.
  • Solid experience applying MACH principles in real-world scenarios, with a track record of delivering cloud-native, microservices-based solutions.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts clearly to stakeholders across all levels.
