Compliance Specialist (Strategy Lead)

We have a rare opportunity available for a Compliance Specialist (Strategy Lead) to join our whanau.

This role is based in Auckland within the Engineering and Maintenance Quality & Safety Liaison team, who support the business and provide SME advice to enable informed decisions and enhancement of safety. The Compliance Specialist (Strategy Lead) is a pivotal role and is responsible for leading strategic initiatives to enhance compliance and safety standards, ensuring adherence to civil aviation regulations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading and directing strategic Quality & Safety Liaison initiatives to enhance compliance and safety processes.
  • Collaborating with senior management to align compliance strategies with organizational goals.
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct audits, capability assessments, business readiness reviews and Quality & Safety Reviews to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and provide recommendations for improvements to achieve safer and more compliant processes.
  • Provide objective consulting services to business leaders and engineers on human factors principles, SMS frameworks, QMS applications, and organisational culture when developing solutions
  • Facilitate training and provide coaching to ensure the currency of QMS authorisation holders.
  • Manage the QMS authorisation process, including review, evaluation, acceptance/rejection of applications, and providing coaching where necessary.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Air New Zealand QMS, SMS and regulatory requirements.

For someone to do this role well, they need to have:

  • Aircraft maintenance experience and knowledge of aircraft systems and/or structures
  • Extensive experience in aviation compliance, safety management, or a related area.
  • Strong knowledge of civil aviation regulations and standards.
  • Proven leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and develop effective solutions.
