Crew Planner Rostering - Fixed Term Contract

At Air New Zealand, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Crew Planner – Rostering to join our Workforce Management team based at our Auckland Airport Campus. This is a fixed term contract until September 2027.

In this role, you'll play a critical part in ensuring our crew are rostered effectively to support a safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll balance operational requirements, contractual obligations, regulatory compliance, and commercial considerations to deliver optimal crew rosters.

You'll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, including Airline Operations, Operational Integrity & Safety, Networks, and Digital. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the delivery of our operation every day.

The role you will play

As a Crew Planner – Rostering, you will be responsible for developing and managing crew rosters that support our operational requirements while ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Optimising crew rosters to meet operational, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring and analysing crew plans to optimise performance and manage operational risk.
  • Supporting and contributing to Workforce Management projects and initiatives.
  • Providing accurate and timely crewing information to stakeholders across the business.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and team members.
  • Promoting and maintaining safe and secure work practices.

This role requires strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic operational environment.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Good level of competence in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new systems and technology.
  • A methodical approach to following processes while applying practical judgement.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in workforce planning, rostering, scheduling, or a related operational environment. Experience working with rostering or scheduling systems.
  • Knowledge of workforce management principles and practices.
