Engineering Internship - Christchurch

Ready to put your engineering studies into practice and help keep New Zealand flying? 

Join Air New Zealand's Tech Ops Engineering Summer Internship Programme and gain hands-on experience in one of New Zealand's most complex and innovative engineering environments. From November 2026 to February 2027, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to meaningful projects, and see how engineering excellence keeps our fleet operating safely and efficiently. 

Our Tech Ops Engineering team is responsible for the continuing airworthiness of our fleet, working with maintenance teams, operational stakeholders, manufacturers and regulators to solve technical challenges and support safe airline operations. 

About the role 
As an Engineering Intern, you will: 

  • Support engineering projects that contribute to safe and reliable aircraft operations 
  • Gain exposure to aircraft engineering, maintenance planning, fleet support and reliability engineering 
  • Apply your technical knowledge to real engineering challenges 
  • Learn from experienced engineers while building your analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Collaborate with a range of teams across Tech Ops. 

What we're looking for 
You'll be: 

  • In your penultimate year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), returning to university in 2027 
  • Studying Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering 
  • A strong analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Curious, adaptable and eager to learn 
  • Available to work full-time from November 2026 to February 2027.
