Ready to lead a critical operational team at the centre of Air New Zealand Airline Operations, where every decision helps keep our aircraft moving safely, efficiently and on schedule? Based in our Integrated Operations Centre at Auckland Airport, the Load Control Manager leads a high-performing operational team responsible for aircraft weight and balance compliance, operational integrity, and delivering exceptional outcomes for Air New Zealand and our customer airlines every day.
This is a unique opportunity to lead one of the airline’s critical operational functions. From aircraft weight and balance compliance to operational integrity and disruption recovery, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, reliable and world-class outcomes for our customers.
Within Airline Operations, you’ll join a fast-paced, highly connected environment where teamwork, operational excellence and customer outcomes are at the centre of everything we do. You’ll lead experienced operational teams, strengthen capability, and help shape the future of Load Control through innovation and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead, coach and inspire Load Control Supervisors and the wider Load Control team to build a high-performing, engaged and customer-focused culture
- Ensure the accurate, timely and cost-effective production of load plans across Air New Zealand and customer airline operations
- Maintain responsibility for the compliance and safety of aircraft weight and balance plans, ensuring all statutory and operational requirements are met
- Drive operational performance by balancing safety, customer experience, on-time performance and commercial outcomes
- Champion training, development and system capability to enable consistently high standards across the team
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, unions and customer airlines while identifying opportunities to improve performance and ways of working
- Lead operational disruption recovery efforts and promote strong risk management and safe operating practices across the function
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of Load Control, bringing fresh thinking and operational leadership to a dynamic environment.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced operational environment, with a genuine passion for building high-performing teams
- Previous airline operational experience is strongly desired, with load control or flight dispatch experience highly regarded
- Strong understanding of operational compliance, safety standards and aircraft weight and balance requirements
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence across a large and complex organisation
- A strategic and commercially minded approach, with a passion for continuous improvement and leading positive change
- A leadership style that builds trust, develops capability and creates inclusive, empowered teams
- Calm, confident decision-making and the ability to lead effectively in high-pressure operational environments.
