Kia ora!
Help shape the future of airport operations through smarter systems, better processes, and innovative ways of working. As our Operations Support Specialist, you'll play a key role in driving operational excellence across Auckland Airport by improving the way we work today while helping design the way we'll work tomorrow. If you're passionate about continuous improvement, digital enablement, and finding better ways to solve complex operational challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
As part of our Auckland Airport team, you'll work across airport operations, lounges, and customer airline services, partnering with leaders and stakeholders to deliver efficient, safe, and seamless operations. At Air New Zealand, we connect friends and whānau across Aotearoa and the world. As part of our whānau, you'll thrive in a dynamic environment focused on doing the basics brilliantly while embracing innovation to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
We're looking for someone who can help shape the future of operational support by using digital tools, automation, and AI-enabled ways of working to simplify processes, improve visibility, and create scalable solutions that deliver lasting value. You'll be encouraged to challenge existing processes, explore emerging technologies, and help build smarter operational support models that enable our teams to perform at their best.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Lead the coordination of operational workflows across Auckland Airport, lounges, and customer airline services, ensuring priorities, risks, dependencies, and outcomes remain visible.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual administration, and improve operational efficiency through automation, digital enablement, and smarter ways of working.
- Champion the use of emerging technologies, including AI, ChatGPT, workflow automation, automated triage, and digital reporting solutions to improve workflow visibility and decision making.
- Design and maintain operational planning, reporting, and tracking systems that provide meaningful insights and support resource planning and performance.
- Coordinate operational improvement projects and cross-functional initiatives, managing timelines, stakeholder engagement, communications, and implementation.
- Produce high-quality operational documentation, reports, and business records while maintaining strong governance, accuracy, and version control.
- Support finance and procurement activities, including purchase orders, administration duties, invoices, expense processing, and cost tracking, while ensuring compliance with business processes.
Success in this role will see you improving operational efficiency, reducing manual effort through scalable solutions, increasing visibility of operational performance, and embedding sustainable ways of working that support safe, reliable airport operations.
What we're looking for:
- Established experience in operational support, business operations, project coordination, continuous improvement, or business administration within a complex operational environment.
- Demonstrated experience driving operational improvement through digital enablement, automation, workflow optimisation, or business process improvement.
- Confidence using, or a genuine interest in exploring, emerging technologies such as AI, ChatGPT, workflow automation, automated triage, or digital reporting tools to improve business processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge existing ways of working and develop practical, scalable solutions.
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint, along with other business systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across operational and corporate teams.
- Experience within aviation, transport, logistics, infrastructure, or another safety-conscious environment is an advantage, but not essential.
If you meet the majority of the criteria and are excited by the opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
What’s in it for you:
We want our people to live their best lives and access great benefits that support their lives outside work.
- Discounted staff travel for you, your friends, and your whānau.
- FlexiLeave, giving you the option to purchase up to four additional weeks of leave each year.
- A learning culture with development opportunities that help you grow your career while making a meaningful impact.
- Wellbeing support, including our Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing resources, and peer support networks.
- Access to a wide range of work perks, including discounts on hotels, retail, banking, insurance, gyms, and more.
