Join Air New Zealand, an award-winning airline and iconic brand that connects people, businesses, and communities across the globe. Our Cargo business in Australia is pivotal, linking Australian customers and partners with New Zealand and our extensive international network.
We’re looking for a Regional Cargo Manager who is passionate about making connections and inspiring teams to achieve excellence.
Air New Zealand is continuing to transform its Cargo's business into a competitive, efficient, modern day Cargo business – and the Regional Cargo Manager Australia is core to achieving these objectives.
You will be tasked with leading the team through a significant transformation period as well as focussing on the regional strategy. This will be achieved through a clear focus on the customer, culture, commercial outcomes, operational complexities, quality and regulatory standards that are required to create a world class Cargo business.
About you:
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a strong people leader with experience developing, motivating and aligning a diverse team. You will bring 'Mana' to the role that will easily create a strong culture and respect with the team and other stakeholders as well as a true focus for the health, safety and wellbeing of your people. Coupled with this leadership ability, you will have an obsession for a customer first approach, have an understanding of local and global trade, sales strategies and a passion for connecting customers to the world.
The Cargo business has large growth plans on the horizon, and as part of the global sales function, you will need to bring a transformational and growth-orientated mindset with a strong results orientation to help create and execute strategic plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Sales Leadership: Create and drive sales strategies that are focused on growth and aligned with our customers’ needs.
- People Leadership: Lead, empower, and inspire the Australia Sales and Operations team. Champion a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance where everyone feels valued.
- Guiding Change: Navigate the team through transformation with empathy and resilience, ensuring they feel supported and motivated to adapt and succeed.
- Ownership of Australia Cargo Sales & Operations: Oversee full P&L responsibility, ensuring operations are efficient, effective, and aligned with our goals.
- Building Connections: Forge and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, internal teams, and suppliers, always with a view to strengthening community ties and supporting local businesses.
- Market Insight and Innovation: Leverage insights and trends to shape innovative strategies that keep us responsive to customer needs and ahead of the curve.
Our ideal candidate:
- Proven experience as a people-focused leader in sales or commercial management, with strong business acumen.
- Respected in the industry for not only your results but your commitment to building and supporting high-performance teams.
- A natural relationship-builder, able to coach, motivate, and inspire a diverse team to achieve their best.
- Adaptable and compassionate, skilled in guiding teams through change with a steady hand and a shared sense of purpose.
- Collaborative, with an ability to rally support and align teams around a common vision.
Are you ready to lead and inspire? Apply today to embark on a rewarding journey with Air New Zealand Cargo.
