Senior Solution Architect
We’re on a mission to become the world’s leading digital airline; from crew to customer, Architecture is at the centre of that journey.
We’re looking for experienced architects who are confident in their craft, collaborative in style, and comfortable navigating complexity to gain clarity.
As a Senior Solution Architect in our Architecture Chapter, you’ll play a key role in designing and guiding the technology solutions that underpin our most important customer and operational experiences. You’ll work across squads, tribes and platforms to shape technically robust solutions, aligned to business goals, and designed to adapt as our platforms and needs evolve.
The role you will play:
You’ll be working with a wide range of technologies, including public cloud services, aviation industry SaaS products, internally developed apps and containerised microservices with a variety of integration approaches:
- Design and guide solutions for strategic initiatives - helping squads and teams deliver secure, maintainable and adaptable technology
- Collaborate with a variety of business stakeholders and technology SMEs to ensure solutions fulfil business objectives and align with business and technology strategy
- Promote well considered decision-making by assessing options and trade-offs, balancing agility, sustainability and value delivery in a complex business environment
- Operate with autonomy and purpose within a governance framework that enables design and delivery while mitigating risk - and help shape governance as new technologies and smarter ways of working emerge
- Actively support the enhancement of our craft - collaboratively shaping designs, sharing knowledge, defining re-usable patterns, and contributing to the capability and performance of the Architecture Chapter
What you will bring to this role:
- Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability when engaging with unfamiliar business domains and emerging technologies
- Collaborate effectively with technologists across a broad range of disciplines, including software engineering, cyber security, product and operations teams
- Take a holistic view of solutions, understanding their broader impact across multiple technology domains and how they align with business objectives
- Produce clear, purposeful documentation that communicates complex ideas to diverse audiences
- Build trust and credibility with business leaders and stakeholders through effective communication and engagement
- Understand Air New Zealand’s technology strategy and ensure architecture contributes to its implementation.
What we can offer you
This is a chance to work in a unique environment that blends aviation with cutting-edge technology, contributing to how an iconic New Zealand organisation operates. The decisions you make here don’t just appear in diagrams - they show up in airports and on aircraft, and in the hands of customers and staff.
You’ll join an Architecture Chapter that’s deeply embedded in our ways of working and is making a real impact as part of Air New Zealand’s journey to become the world’s leading digital airline. We’re outcome-focused, with supportive leadership and a strong sense of community. We back our people to act with autonomy, integrity and intent.
Oh - and yes, there are staff travel perks. You might even get moved up front now and then.
Ready to apply your craft where it counts? Join us and help build the digital backbone of Air New Zealand.
Applications close 19 August 2025.
