Supply Planning Specialist

Kia ora!

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Supply Planning Specialist to join our Auckland-based team on a 12 month fixed-term contract covering parental leave. If you’re ready to apply your analytical and planning expertise in a complex, fast-paced aviation environment, this is your opportunity to play a key role in keeping our aircraft flying, ensuring the right parts are available at the right time.

About the role

As a key member of our Supply Planning Chapter, you’ll own end-to-end planning activities for a defined portfolio of materials. You’ll take a proactive, data-driven approach — balancing forecast accuracy, inventory health, and operational readiness to support Air New Zealand’s engineering and maintenance operations. Your work will directly support safe, on-time, and reliable journeys for our customers.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll bring your proven planning experience to:

  • Collaborate with the Demand Planning team to translate approved demand forecasts into executable supply and inventory plans aligned with fleet maintenance and reliability schedules.
  • Translate forecast insights into executable supply plans using SAP ERP (MRP, planning, and procurement modules)
  • Develop and execute robust inventory and replenishment strategies to ensure optimal stock levels and availability
  • Analyse consumption trends, lead times, and supplier performance to continuously improve forecast accuracy
  • Monitor and improve planning KPIs including forecast bias, material availability, and supplier OTIF performance
  • Lead weekly demand and supply review meetings, managing exceptions and mitigating emerging risks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, technical planning, and commercial teams
  • Champion continuous improvement and support digital initiatives to enhance planning visibility and automation

What we’re looking for

You’re a supply chain professional with solid experience across demand and supply planning, ideally gained in a complex, technical, or aviation-related environment. You’re comfortable working with data, using systems to drive decisions, and balancing service with cost.

We’re particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Proven experience in demand and supply planning, forecasting, and inventory optimisation
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP ERP (MM/PP or equivalent) for MRP and procurement coordination
  • Strong analytical skills and fluency in Power BI, Excel, and related reporting tools
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to team-based improvement initiatives

What we offer

At Air New Zealand, we know that supporting our people is key to delivering for our customers. We offer:

  • A learning culture with ample growth opportunities and on-the-job development
  • A collaborative and values-led team culture where your expertise is recognised and valued
