Supply Planning Specialist

Air New Zealand's Supply Chain team have a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity in Christchurch for a Supply Planning Specialist (SPS) within the Supply Planning Chapter. This role supports the planning, purchasing and management of inventory (parts/materials) required to support Air NZ operations, particularly aircraft undergoing maintenance and repair.

You will be responsible for working collaboratively with the fleet teams, workshops and aircraft maintenance bases when reviewing the decision-making criteria to ensure optimised sizing of our inventory when purchasing decisions are made. This will ensure we order the right parts, within the right time and make them available for use when needed.

The core competency of our Supply Planning Chapter is analysis and evaluation attributes, in managing a designated list of inventory requirements, ensuring SAP inventory planning parameters are kept current to demand and the volume of inventory held undergo a robust utilisation review to meet stakeholder needs. Being current on the status of inventory delivery, having attention to detail and accuracy as well as managing cost to ensure reliability will be key attributes in being successful in this role.

The SPS role is flexible and in maintaining our core competencies across the team enables our team to work in different and varied fleet deliveries. Working with your Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for setting up the supply chain in our SAP system to meet operational, aircraft maintenance and workshop requirements, while ordering and expediting the inventory needed to meet timelines while keeping within budgets.

Your experience in SAP inventory purchasing will be a significant advantage. Your customer focus, communication and collaboration skills will be on show as you engage with your key stakeholders and vendors to achieve these objectives. You will be a person who is proactive in driving for positive outcomes, within complex time and material challenges.

  • Utilising your SAP experience and operational material acumen to achieve transparent and on-time aircraft inventory delivery for our stakeholders
  • You will be a self-starter who has a positive approach to what you do in your day-to-day work life and someone who enjoys communicating and working effectively with cross functional groups. Your communication style and ability to connect with people to find solutions will be a key success factor. 
  • You will be a person who thrives on a challenge, is organised, and can deliver what is required with due diligence to process.
  • You will have strong analytical skills, computer competence and professional written communication to be successful in this role.
