Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Christchurch

Air New Zealand’s Christchurch Maintenance Base is entering an exciting new stage.

With the aim of growing our established Workforce to ensure we have the skills and experience needed to match future demand over the coming years, we now have positions available for start in early to mid-2025.

These are permanent opportunities based in Christchurch for qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs and LAMEs) across all trade groups including:

  • Mechanical
  • Avionics
  • Sheet Metal/Structures
  • Painters
  • Aircraft Trimmers
  • Composites
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). 

There are multiple full-time (40 hours per week) day & shift work opportunities across days & afternoons, weekdays & weekends.

You will be:

  • Committed to maintaining a safe workplace
  • Passionately customer focused
  • Comfortable working individually and as part of a team.
  • Adept at thinking outside the square while always meeting regulatory and company standards whilst also being flexible in the areas that you work.

You will have proven hands-on experience with component changes, servicing, inspections, planned and unplanned maintenance, modification work at both Base (Heavy) Maintenance and/or Line (up to A check) Maintenance levels.  

As well as hands on experience you will need strong communication skills as these are critical in your ability to relate and interact with a diverse range of people on a day-to-day basis. You will also focus on recognising opportunities to improve the business as part of your daily responsibilities.

The preferred candidates will also need to meet the below requirements:

  • Have at least three years’ work experience 
  • Have completed an aviation apprenticeship, or equivalent military training
  • Prepared to work overtime either during the week or weekends as required
  • Be curious and willing to learn and take on additional skills
  • Conversant with the use of all AMM & SRM manuals for Air NZ or Customer fleets.

It would be desirable (but not mandatory) to be able to show experience on any or all the following aircraft types:

  • ATR/Q300 turboprop aircraft
  • A320/A321 Jet aircraft 
  • CEO/NEO or V2500/PW1100G
  • C130
  • and Boeing products (757, 737).

Preference will be given to applicants who hold a valid CAANZ/CASA/EASA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence and/or are aircraft type rated. 

Our Benefits: 
Base Salary starting package of $81000-$120000 (dependant on skillset and experience) per annum, a 4% KiwiSaver match plus allowances (shift, certifications & overtime).
