Airport Planning Manager - Auckland

Kia ora!

At Air New Zealand, we’re on a mission to shape the future of aviation and redefine what excellence looks like in airport operations. We’re looking for a strategic and analytical leader to join our team as an Airport Planning Manager — a role that sits at the heart of our operational performance and future growth.

About the role
As an Airport Planning Manager, you’ll lead the development of workforce strategies and capacity planning to ensure our airport operations are safe, efficient, and future-ready. You’ll work and collaborate across short, medium, and long-term horizons to forecast demand, optimise resource allocation, and deliver insights that drive productivity and cost efficiency.

You’ll also play a key role in shaping our people strategy — from ensuring compliance with fatigue and training standards to embedding wellbeing and safety into every aspect of our planning.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead a team +10 people responsible for day-of-operations execution and tactical resources management
  • Adopt and promote evolving ways of working at the airport to align to best practice operations and technology
  • Contribute and lead the execution of a 5-year workforce plan aligned with fleet, schedule, and transformation roadmaps
  • Run scenario modelling to assess headcount, skill, and cost impacts
  • Identify and implement cost optimisation initiatives
  • Lead compliance with fatigue guidelines, training standards, and collective agreements

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in workforce management, analytics, or quality management
  • Experience in unionised environments and managing budgets over NZD $10 million
  • Strong background in aviation, supply chain, or transportation industries
  • Proven project or programme management experience
  • Proficiency in data tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau or Power BI
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations or logistics (Master’s preferred)

Applications close 13th July 2025.
