Airworthiness Engineer

Are you ready to take your engineering expertise to the next level? We’re looking for a Powerplant Airworthiness Engineer to join our Continuing Airworthiness Team in Christchurch. This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our Q300 fleet.

What You’ll Do:

This role will be responsible for providing specialist engineering support for Engines, Auxiliary Power Units & Propellors operated on Air New Zealand’s Q300/Dash 8 fleet, requiring a proactive and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Each day will present new challenges, making the role highly varied and rewarding.

As the Powerplant Airworthiness Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Major Assets (Engines, Auxiliary Power Units and Propellors) in the Q300/Dash 8 Fleet. Your expertise will support day-to-day operations, maintenance teams and supply chain functions helping to maximize aircraft availability. You will also assess and accept technical data and instructions for continuing airworthiness and ensure that regulatory compliance is maintained. The role will require collaboration with OEMs, regulatory authorities, vendors, and internal stakeholders on technical matters. Additionally, you will drive reliability improvements, support the lifecycle programme management and maintain configuration control.

Key Requirements:

  • NZCE, LAME or NZIM Diploma of management, or
  • BEng Degree, preferably with aerospace modules completed, or
  • Equivalent industry experience (8 years minimum).
  • Knowledge and experience in powerplant systems (PW123 preferred)
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of digital tools and apps, in particular MS Office suite and SAP experience,
  • Experience in a similar continuing airworthiness airline position would be advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge and excellent communication skills to rapidly gain credibility with Engineers, Technicians and Management teams.
