Cybersecurity Consultant

As part of the Digital team, Cyber & Identity provides assurance that the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our information assets and systems are maintained. This includes security governance, architecture design input, risk identification and management, and vulnerability assessment. Air New Zealand is a large and complex organisation, and our cyber security team are a key part in keeping our business safe and secure. To succeed in this environment, we are looking for security experts who work well with ambiguity, have buckets of initiative, great technical expertise and enjoy building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders. 

The team are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant who will work as a trusted advisor to our internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Relationship Management: Building strong stakeholder relationships with internal business partners in order to become a trusted business advisor who provides actionable cybersecurity insights.
  • Technical Expert: Play a critical role in leading Air New Zealand as a subject matter expert in cyber security, including AI and associated technologies such as GenAI, LLMs, MCP and Agents.
  • Transformation: Support the delivery of a cyber security step change within Air NZ's cyber security function.

To be successful to delivering the above responsibilities, candidates will have a combination of the following skills:

  • A broad range of security skills in areas such as security architecture, including cloud security architecture, security operations, security risk management, accreditation, cyber incident response, certification, security governance and management.
  • The ability to identify risks, recommend mitigations, and clearly communicate with stakeholders to deliver outcomes of value to the organisation.
  • Proven experience in defining and delivering a security strategy, including enterprise security strategy, assurance roadmap, and security governance.
  • Experience delivering cyber security change within a large and complex organisation. This will focus on delivery through the development of strong stakeholder relationships as a trusted business advisor.
  • Excellent technical skills with a deep understanding of what good system design looks like, networking, identity and access management, and cloud services. Previous experience with code development is an advantage.
  • A problem-solving mindset that enables you to see complex problems from multiple perspectives, collaborate with teams to understand the problem and work to quickly develop a solution.
  • A strong personal focus on continual learning. Technology makes it necessary for all people joining our digital business to be lifelong learners who are curious to explore new technologies, their application and suitability for our business.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
