NDT Level 3 Support Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Compliance and Contracts team within Aircraft Maintenance and Delivery as a Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Level 3 Engineer in a permanent, full-time role. 

In this key technical role, duties may include but are not limited to performing NDT Level 3 activities in accordance with NAS410 and EN4179 standards for Air New Zealand Maintenance Delivery Unit, and our third-party customers. 

About the Role 

  • Perform Level 3 functions as described in NAS410 and EN4179, this may include, but are not limited to, technique approval, oversight, and interpretation in alignment with regulatory and internal standards 
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the Responsible Level 3 on compliance activities. 
  • Act as the Responsible Level 3 Deputy when required 
  • To maintain operational flexibility, you are expected to retain your Level 2 qualifications and authorizations, enabling you to perform Task Certification, Card Coordination, and release to service duties when necessary 
  • This role may involve domestic and occasional international travel  
  • This role also assumes the duties of Radiation Safety Officer for Auckland Maintenance Base 

What We’re Looking For 

We’re seeking an experienced professional who brings the following: 

  • Possession of a current ASNT (American Society for NDT) NDT L 3 certificate, PCN Aero (Personnel Certification in NDT) NDT L 3 certificate or ISO 9712 NDT L3 -Aerospace certificate in at least 5 Methods 
  • Current NDT Level 2 and Level 3 Certifications in accordance with NAS410 and EN4179 in at least 5 methods 
  • Completion of an aircraft apprenticeship or equivalent or a minimum five years' experience in Aircraft maintenance 
  • The ability to advise on defect limit criteria in support of Engineering and Design teams. 
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with vendors, OEMs, and regulatory authorities to maintain current certifications and industry best practices
  • A mindset of continuous improvement, actively identifying and delivering solutions that support operational excellence
  • Must possess excellent communication abilities and work well in a team environment with a problem-solving mindset
