Security Specialist

Air New Zealand’s purpose is to connect New Zealanders to each other and the world. We pride ourselves on our great culture, outstanding customer service and innovations that are truly cutting edge. The work that goes on behind the scenes is crucial to deliver these outcomes. As part of this work, we now have two permanent, full-time opportunities available for Security Consultants to join our Group Resilience team.
Our team incorporates Security, Emergency Management, Business Continuity and Intelligence and Threats. We are responsible for the security and safety of our people, assets, reputation, brand and global operation. The team work closely aligned with numerous aviation authorities around the world. Within Air New Zealand, we work with all areas of the business to support their innovative business opportunities, raise security awareness and enable our people to play their part in keeping our airline secure and safe. We utilise international best practice security methodologies and an innovative approach to continually challenge and improve aviation security regulatory compliance and corporate enterprise security responsibilities.
Our Security Consultants work to ensure that we are accurately postured with proportionate security measures in place to mitigate the threat to our operations across our international and domestic networks. Please note, not a cyber or digital security role.
Key aspects of the role:
- Ensure operational security for domestic and international aircraft operations
- Conduct initial enquiries into aircraft and airport incidents, accidents and breaches and recommend corrective action
- Provide specialist aviation security and general security advice to the business
- Contribute to security policy, standards and procedures and ensure compliance.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong experience as a security professional or in a related field
- Professional experience in security management and/or a security risk management role
- Previous employment or work experience in a corporate/aviation security role would be beneficial
- qualified to a tertiary level and/or certifications applicable to security
- a confident and assured subject matter expert.
The Security Consultant role also includes an on-call component, scheduled via a team roster.
In return, we offer unique staff travel benefits, flexible working, life insurance, paid parental leave, health and wellbeing support, plus much more. We also believe in growing our people and offer fantastic career progression opportunities.
If you are looking for a new challenge, we look forward to receiving your CV and covering letter outlining your relevant experience via the Air NZ careers site. Applications cannot be received via email.
At Air New Zealand, we are proudly committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and believe in creating a truly inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves and thrive. Our people are our greatest asset – because while everything else we do in our operation can be replicated by our competitors, it is our people that truly set us apart. We are firm believers in celebrating the differences and diversity of thought our people bring to their roles.
