Senior ABAP Developer (Senior Software Engineer (SAP))

We are seeking an experienced Senior ABAP Developer to join us part of the Engineering Delivery Unit with a focus on supporting Engineering, Maintenance & Supply Chain based at the Auckland Airport Campus. This role reports to the Chapter Lead SE - ERP Engineering, within the Applications and Development Chapter Area and will involve design and development within our SAP landscape and interfaces. 

Key responsibilities:  

  • Analyse, design, develop, document, and deliver new and amended software applications using ABAP and BTP relevant technologies. 
  • Assist in diagnosing, debugging, and solving technical issues within the SAP landscape and interfaced systems. 
  • Integrate with external systems using BTP services like SAP Integration Suite and SAP API Management, with back-end systems through OData and RESTful services. 
  • Promote and deploy using RevTrac, Transports, and CI/CD practices with ADO Repos and Pipelines. 
  • Proactively collaborate within Squads, defining User Stories and other requirements artefacts for delivery through an agile environment, via sprint cycles. 
  • Provide mentorship for junior Software Engineers and share knowledge with peers, promoting ABAP best practices while aligning with MACH and DORA principles. 

Our ideal candidate:  

  • University degree in relevant area, (preferably computer science, engineering, information systems). 
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in SAP ABAP development tools and technologies. 
  • Proven experience in leading and facilitating activities between business stakeholders and technical teams. 
  • Extensive experience in SAP ERP ECC6 on Oracle with application integration. 
  • Proficiency in Dynpro/Workflow/Smartforms/Complex reports/Interfaces/BAPI. 
  • Experience in Odata developments and API integration. 
  • Comfortable with BTP developments and integrations using Fiori, Cloud Application Programming (CAP) model, Node.js, Javascript, Fiori UI5 / HTML5 and Integration Suite. Cloud Authorization and Authentication flow knowledge would be an advantage. 
  • Good understanding in the functional areas of Supply Chain, Plant Maintenance, Project Systems, Finance and HR. 
  • Experience in working collaboratively across software product teams of various disciplines in an Agile environment.
