Senior Manager Supply Chain Operations
This job has now closed.
Kia ora!
At Air New Zealand, we are building back better as we connect friends and whānau all over Aotearoa to each other and reconnect Kiwis to the world. To help accelerate creating these connections, we are doing things a little differently by reaping the benefits of operating in an Agile way, calling this Full Potential. This new way of working will help us deliver the greatest flying experience on Earth for our customers, make Air New Zealand the preferred place to work, and enable us to continually adapt and innovate through making decisions faster.
Our Supply Chain team is intrinsically connected to our company's purpose of connecting New Zealanders to each other and New Zealand to the world. The team is focused on enhancing operational and commercial outcomes by strategically linking procurement, inventory and asset management, ground support equipment & tooling, logistics, warehousing, planning and performance analytics, in a streamlined, collaborative and interconnected manner right across the organisation.
Looking to the future, Supply Chain will become even further embedded into the success of the Airline as we explore how our new ways of working can enhance the operations of the business.
The Senior Manager Supply Chain Operations primary responsibility is to lead the Warehouse Operations teams that support our Engineering and Maintenance teams across Auckland, Christchurch and Nelson. The role also oversees and manages our Auckland Inflight Warehouse, which supports the onboard aircraft needs and airport lounges in New Zealand and across our Overseas ports. In addition, the role includes the hangar and line maintenance tool stores, logistic operations, along with several strategic commercial third-party logistics (3PL) contracts.
Critical to this is the development of strategic plans that support our investments in automation, specialised storage needs, aircraft parts storage, and the new Aircraft Hangar in Auckland. The Operations area is on a transformational journey to build an automated and highly compliant organisation that can support our purpose. The end goal is to achieve high utilisation of materials and assets by reducing complexity, minimising obsolescence and duplication, optimising storage use, and lowering movement costs.
This exciting opportunity allows you to work across the entire organisation, enabling the Kia Mau strategy across several areas including Airports, Engineering and Maintenance, while supporting all Corporate Functions in their strategic roadmap delivery. Additionally, there is an opportunity to further develop this critical operational support area and help it reach its full potential.
To be successful in the role we are looking for candidates with:
- Significant experience managing Warehouse Operations & the Physical Logistics of a complex supply chain
- Extensive senior-level experience within a complex environment, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and proven professional skills
- Experience in Aviation or an equivalent highly compliant work area, as this role has responsibilities to the New Zealand Aviation authority in New Zealand and overseas jurisdictions.
- University degree in relevant discipline or similar professional qualifications in Logistics.
While the above are core to being successful, we also prefer people who have experience working in an enterprise agile environment, SAP WMS and having led digital and automation transformation activities, particularly across areas that need a high level of compliance. If you are up for a new challenge, then please apply online with your CV outlining your suitability for the role.
At Air New Zealand, we are proudly committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and believe in creating a truly inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves and thrive. Our people are our greatest asset – because while everything else we do in our operation can be replicated by our competitors, it is our people that truly set us apart. We are firm believers in celebrating the differences and diversity of thought our people bring to their roles.
