Kia ora
Air New Zealand is on an accelerated journey to deliver the best flying experience on Earth. Our purpose is to enrich our country by connecting New Zealanders to each other and New Zealand to the world. As part of this, we’re embedding new ways of working that unlock value faster, build empowered teams and drive continuous improvement.
We’re looking for a Senior Performance Coach to join our Agile & Lean Centre of Excellence for a six-month fixed term period, supporting squads predominantly within our Digital Tribes. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in coaching cross-functional teams to lift delivery performance, team health and clarity of focus.
About the role
As part of the Agile & Lean CoE Performance Coaching Chapter, you’ll work with squads and tribe leadership in our digital portfolio; helping them improve how they plan, collaborate and deliver outcomes. You’ll coach squads to embed ways of working that reflect the maturity and needs of each team, and influence both tactical delivery and broader team culture.
You’ll operate with a good degree of autonomy but stay connected to a high-performing chapter of experienced coaches. Together, we’re focused on growing capability across Air New Zealand, building delivery maturity and shaping the future of coaching at scale.
What you’ll be doing
- Coaching squads, Product Owners and leaders to embed agile practices and mindset
- Facilitating agile ceremonies and retrospectives across squads and tribes
- Helping teams slice work effectively and improve delivery flow
- Coach your Tribe during the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process to ensure value-based prioritisation
- Supporting the development of psychological safety and team cohesion
- Partnering with the Agile & Lean CoE to refine and uplift our broader coaching approach
- Acting as a visible advocate for continuous improvement and outcome-driven delivery
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience as an Agile or Performance Coach in a digital environment
- Strong influencing and communication skills, including with senior leaders
- A pragmatic and flexible mindset
- Credibility when engaging with technical and delivery-focused squads
- Experience working across a range of large, complex organisations
- The ability to self-manage, prioritise and focus where you can have the biggest impact
Why join us
As a Performance Coach at Air New Zealand, you’ll gain access across the business; partnering with a diverse set of people, learning how an airline operates at scale and playing a role in lifting delivery outcomes that matter. You'll also be part of a connected chapter of coaches working to evolve our coaching craft and grow a high-performing coaching culture.
This is a hands-on role with real impact. If you’re energised by building better teams, delivering meaningful change and being part of a high-trust coaching environment - we’d love to hear from you.
Applications close at 11:59pm, Wednesday 18 June 2025.
