Introducing our fire-fighting flight attendant and aspiring pilot, Kate Thompson

Kate has been part of the Air New Zealand whānau for around eight years, having worked in our teams at Christchurch and Napier Airports and most recently as a flight attendant on our turboprop fleet based in Tauranga. When she’s not helping our customers onboard and connecting them to our regions, she’s a volunteer firefighter for Mount Maunganui Fire Brigade attending callouts and helping her local community. She’s also training to race up the Sky Tower in her firefighting gear to raise funds and awareness for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

Now she’s embarking on a new adventure, studying to become a pilot so she can one day take a seat in the flight deck of our ATR aircraft.
