Group Shared Services (GSS) support Air New Zealand by providing financial shared services—payment processing and control—to internal and external customers. Right now, we have a rare opportunity for a driven Accounting Control Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Joining a close-knit team, you will work across hundreds of thousands of transactions--including bank, passenger sales receivable, and our cargo business--reconciling millions of dollars per week. Your key responsibilities will be:
- Completing basic to medium difficulty balance sheet reconciliations
- Identification of root causes and resolving outstanding items
- Providing feedback and analysis and resolution of issues to key stakeholders
- Undertaking month-end accounting close activities and processes
- Managing queries from internal and external customers
- Ensuring processes are documented and updated
- Participating in Continuous Improvement projects to enhance processes and create efficiency gains
- Undertake half-year and year-end close including liaison with internal/external audit
With at least 3 years of accounting experience in a medium to large organisation, you will be used to dealing with multiple currencies and reconciling high volumes of transactions. You have an investigative thought process and a continuous improvement mindset. As a team player, your strong verbal and written communication skills complement your open and collaborative working style.
You're systems-savvy and totally confident with Excel. PeopleSoft experience and a relevant tertiary qualification would be preferred.
