Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship - Christchurch

Your Journey:

During your 4-year apprenticeship you will rotate through different departments and learn all aspects of what it takes to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Your rotations will include assisting aircraft inspections and maintenance procedures. Learn to troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems and components under expert supervision.  

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be completing unit standards towards your New Zealand Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering (Level 4). Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will move to an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer role. From there your opportunities are endless, you can grow within our airline to become a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) or discover a different role within our Engineering & Maintenance area to pursue. 

What are we looking for? 

  • Passionate and driven individuals eager to build a career in aviation 
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Dedication to teamwork, communication, and time management along with a willingness to embrace challenges and continuously learn in a fast-paced industry
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the aviation industry. 

Key Requirements:

  • Hold a New Zealand Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering (Level 3) by the end of 2024. Or hold a New Zealand certificate in Aeronautical Engineering from NMIT
  • Hold NZ or Australian Citizenship or NZ Permanent Residency
  • Hold a full New Zealand Driver License with reliable transport from time of application (Restricted driver licence will be considered).
