Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Composites

Air New Zealand Engineering and Maintenance in Christchurch has a vacancy for a permanent Composites Engineer to join their team. This is a Monday to Friday day position.
In this role you will be performing Composite work for routine aircraft and component maintenance; identifying and rectifying aircraft or component defects and undertaking modification, repair and servicing.

We seek a person that is committed to a safe workplace, is passionately customer focused with an eye on our business objectives, and who is comfortable working as part of a team. You'll be adept at thinking outside the square while meeting compliance and company legislative/regulatory standards. Strong communication skills are critical, as well as the ability to relate and interact with a wide range of people on a day-to-day basis.

The successful candidates will meet the below requirements:

  • Have completed an aviation apprenticeship, or equivalent military training with composite experience or an apprenticeship in composite materials
  • Be able to carry out GRP, Kevlar and Carbon fibre repairs
  • Hold previous experience with composite metal bond, hot bond and structural repairs
  • Prepared to work overtime either during the week or weekends as required
  • Be curious and willing to learn and take on additional skills
  • Conversant with the SRM manuals for Airbus, ATR, de Havilland, and Boeing (preferred)
  • Completed Phase I, II and III of the ABARIS training program (preferred).
