This is your opportunity to lead environmental stewardship across one of New Zealand's most recognised organisations. You'll influence how we manage environmental risk, strengthen regulatory compliance, and drive sustainable outcomes that protect our people, operations, and the environment. Your expertise will help ensure we continue operating responsibly while building capability for the future.

What you'll be doing
- Lead Air New Zealand's environmental compliance and assurance programme, ensuring regulatory obligations are met across the business
- Provide strategic oversight of environmental governance, management systems, audits, and assurance activities that strengthen organisational performance
- Identify, assess, and manage environmental risks, supporting informed decision making across operational and corporate teams
- Lead environmental incident investigations and ensure corrective and preventative actions are effectively implemented through to closure
- Monitor environmental performance using data, assurance findings, and emerging trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Provide trusted, evidence-based advice to senior leaders on environmental obligations, regulatory requirements, and risk management
- Partner across the organisation to embed consistent environmental management practices that protect our operations, reputation, and communities.
What we're looking for
- Extensive experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, assurance, or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, and compliance obligations, including experience working within complex operational environments
- Demonstrated experience developing and leading environmental audit and assurance programmes
- Experience managing environmental risk, incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong understanding of environmental management systems and governance frameworks
- The ability to interpret complex legislation and translate regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes
- Excellent analytical skills, with experience using data and assurance insights to identify risks and improve organisational performance
- Proven ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior leaders, operational teams, regulators, and subject matter experts
- Outstanding communication skills, with confidence providing clear, evidence-based advice on complex environmental matters
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to drive positive change across a large and operationally complex organisation.
If you meet the majority of the criteria and are excited by the opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
