Inventory Data Analyst (Inventory Specialist)

Kia ora!

Air New Zealand has two permanent opportunities for Inventory Specialists to join our Supply Chain Planning team, supporting the analysis, governance and optimisation of aircraft material inventory across our Engineering and Maintenance operations.

These roles are highly analytical, with a strong focus on both structured and ad-hoc investigation of inventory performance. You’ll play a key role in identifying opportunities to unlock value from surplus and obsolete material, partnering closely with stakeholders to drive informed decisions and execute approved sales.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead detailed inventory analysis to support operational and financial performance, delivering both regular reporting and responsive, ad-hoc insights as business needs evolve. Your focus will include:

  • Producing and analysing inventory reports covering stock levels, ageing, inventory turns, excess and slow-moving material
  • Conducting ad-hoc deep dives to identify trends, risks and optimisation opportunities
  • Identifying surplus and obsolete inventory for potential sale, building robust business cases and gaining required approvals
  • Creating and managing the end-to-end sales process for approved material, including system setup, documentation and coordination through to completion
  • Monitoring stocktake and cycle count outcomes, reviewing discrepancies and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are completed
  • Maintaining and validating inventory data, planning parameters and system transactions to ensure strong governance and compliance
  • Processing and reviewing stock adjustments, transfers and disposals in line with approved controls
  • Partnering with Planning, Engineering, Warehousing, Procurement and Finance to resolve inventory issues and improve overall performance.

What you’ll bring
You’ll have experience in inventory control, supply chain planning or materials management, with a strong analytical mindset and confidence working with data.

You’ll also bring:

  • Advanced Excel capability and experience using Power BI or similar analytical tools
  • Experience working with ERP or MRP systems
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of inventory governance and compliance
  • The ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations and influence stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working across operational and finance teams

Experience in aviation, engineering or manufacturing environments will be advantageous.

What we can offer you
We want our people to thrive both at work and beyond. Our benefits include:

  • Generous Staff Travel discounts on Air New Zealand flights and standby access on other international airlines for you and your whānau
  • FlexiLeave, giving you the option to purchase up to four extra weeks off per year
  • Life insurance coverage and access to discounted rates for additional insurance options
  • Medical expense cover through Koruhealth and discounted private medical insurance with Southern Cross
  • A strong learning culture with ongoing development opportunities

Why join Air New Zealand?
At Air New Zealand, our people are at the heart of what we do. You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working on meaningful challenges in a complex operational environment that keeps Aotearoa connected to the world.

If you’re commercially minded, analytically strong and motivated to turn data into action - particularly through identifying and executing material sales opportunities - we’d love to hear from you.

Applications close Thursday 19th March 2026.
