Marketing Acquisition Specialist (Fixed-term Contract)
Kia ora!
Marketing at Air New Zealand is evolving and we're looking for a Marketing Acquisition Specialist to be part of that future. Our vision is to be world-leading in creating sustainable customer value through intelligent human connection. This is a fixed-term contract until August 2027.
We’re transforming into a more connected, customer-led and technology-enabled marketing function - one that brings together data, insight, creativity, and technology to create stronger customer and commercial outcomes.
The role
Our Marketing Acquisition teams are focused on helping customers discover, consider and choose Air New Zealand. We want to balance short-term revenue opportunities with longer-term demand creation and customer preference by identifying who we are trying to reach, what matters to them, where we should show up, and how we know our activity is working. From strategic thinking to omni-channel delivery, you’ll work within cross-functional squads to build future demand, convert current demand and continuously improve effectiveness.
What you’ll be doing
- Use customer, market, competitor and performance insights to identify opportunities to create and convert demand.
- Develop clear audience, proposition and positioning recommendations for priority customer segments.
- Build integrated go-to-market approaches across paid, owned, earned and shared channels.
- Work with internal teams and agency partners to develop relevant, distinctive and effective content and creative.
- Apply strong channel thinking across areas such as search, social, display, video, partnerships and owned channels.
- Use AI, automation and emerging marketing technology to improve the speed, quality and effectiveness of your work, without losing the human insight and creativity that differentiates great customer experiences.
- Build experimentation into marketing activity and use data and performance signals to optimise and inform investment decisions.
- Partner closely with Product Owners, Revenue Management, Brand, Sales, Loyalty, Digital Commerce and Customer Lifecycle Marketing teams.
- Contribute to shared Marketing Acquisition frameworks, standards, playbooks and best practice. Share expertise and learn from others as we build broader capability across the chapter.
- Advocate for and drive innovation aligned to Air New Zealand’s broader Marketing Transformation journey.
What you’ll bring
You don’t need to be an expert in every marketing discipline. We’re looking for people with strong depth in relevant areas and the curiosity and adaptability to broaden their capability over time.
You’ll bring:
- Strong experience across marketing acquisition, including digital marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to turn customer and commercial insight into effective, integrated marketing activity.
- Strong understanding of customer audiences, propositions, and channel roles.
- Confidence using data, measurement and performance signals to inform decisions and optimise outcomes.
- A growth mindset with a strong test-and-learn approach coupled with a willingness to challenge established ways of working.
- Commercial acumen and an ability to balance customer outcomes, business priorities and delivery realities.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills in a complex, cross-functional environment.
- Experience working effectively with creative, media, and digital agency partners.
- Curiosity about AI, emerging technology and changing customer behaviour, with an appetite to experiment and learn.
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to share expertise while learning new skills from others.
Experience working with the below would be advantageous but not essential:
- Travel, loyalty, retail, ecommerce or other complex customer environments.
- MarTech platforms such as Braze, Hightouch and Payload.
- Agile framework
If you’re a commercially minded marketer who is curious about where marketing is heading, enjoys solving complex customer problems and wants to help shape how Air New Zealand creates growth in the future, we’d like to hear from you.
