People Safety Business Partner

In this role, you will partner with business areas and leaders across the organisation to embed a proactive safety culture and deliver initiatives that make a lasting difference to our people. 

How you'll make an impact 

  • Partner with business leaders to deliver the Group People Safety Strategy and annual Aviation and Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellbeing plans 
  • Work with frontline workers to embed industry best Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices into complex high risk environments 
  • Coach, influence and educate leaders and teams to strengthen safety capability and reduce workplace injuries 
  • Lead the implementation of critical risk programmes and safety improvement projects that deliver measurable business outcomes 
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance health, safety and wellbeing practices across the organisation and ensure risk control effectiveness 
  • Manage the successful delivery of People Safety initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and achieve meaningful results 
  • Provide timely, accurate health, safety, and wellbeing insights that support informed business planning and decision making 
  • Mentor leaders through serious incident investigations, conduct internal audits and support the successful close out of audit findings. 

What we're looking for 

  • Significant experience in health, safety, and wellbeing, ideally within a large and complex organisation 
  • Around 5 to 10 years' experience influencing leaders and engaging diverse stakeholder groups 
  • A recognised Diploma or national qualification in health and safety, or equivalent industry experience 
  • Experience with Hazardous Substances competency and management with proven industry experience 
  • Safety in Design experience that supports strong risk management with complex projects 
  • Outstanding relationship management skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels 
  • Strong project management skills and a continuous improvement mindset 
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and industry best practice 
  • The ability to think quickly, exercise sound judgement and provide practical advice in a fast-paced environment 
  • A proven track record of driving positive health and safety culture change across complex organisations.
