The Air New Zealand Scheduling team is at the heart of how the airline operates. The team design and deliver a robust seasonal flying program; essentially managing the intricate details of where we fly to, when we fly, and the type of aircraft used.

As a Schedule Planner, this person will be pivotal in optimising and delivering Air New Zealand’s schedules and slot portfolio.

The role involves taking key commercial requirements and operational parameters as inputs to ensure schedules are developed and maintained over a period ranging from 1 month to 2 years. A highly collaborative approach is essential for this role in managing a broad range of stakeholders to effectively balance commercial, operational, and cost considerations.

Responsibilities:

An important aspect of the role involves managing Air New Zealand’s Slot Portfolio at key congested airports, adhering to IATA deadlines to ensure slot compliance. 

The successful candidate will be tasked with delivering key commercial and operational KPIs with an analytical, proactive, and continuous improvement approach.

In addition, the role will also respond to emerging trends to manage fleet allocation and address short to medium-term capacity changes.

Key attributes:

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Experience in airline network planning, operational planning, and/or financial/strategic planning, ideally a minimum of 5 years.
  • Knowledge and experience of IATA slot guidelines would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong negotiation skills are a must, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • The candidate should be capable of thriving in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven ability to consider both analytical inputs and diverse qualitative inputs to make quality scheduling design trade-offs.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate key schedule details to all areas of the business responsible for delivery.
