Senior Analytics Engineer

There is huge demand for insights from Air NZ's unique and complex data landscape. We need Senior Analytics Engineers to work in cross-functional teams and bring robust, efficient, and integrated data models and products to life. Analytics Engineers speak the language of business teams and technical teams, able to translate data insights and analysis needs into models.
The role you will play:
- Collaborate with the team to gather business requirements, define analytics goals, and design data models
- Build trust in all interactions and with Trusted Data Development
- Take ownership of key sections of the Enterprise Dimensional Model
- Develop and extend dbt code for the Enterprise Dimensional Model
- Maintain architecture and systems documentation in the Data Team Handbook
- Manage the data catalog to support self-service and single-source analytics
- Document models and curate metadata
- Implement Data Ops principles in your work
- Write code that adheres to internal standards for style and best practices (e.g., SQL Style Guide) and maintain these through code reviews
What you will bring to this role:
- 5+ years in data analysis, engineering, or a related role
- 5+ years designing and implementing Kimball enterprise dimensional models
- 5+ years working with large-scale (1B+ rows) Data Warehouses, ideally in the cloud
- 5+ years building reports and dashboards in data visualization tools
- 5+ years creating project plans with clear tasks, milestones, and deliverables
- Strong communicator, able to achieve consensus across technical and business teams
- Experience explaining complex business and technical concepts clearly
- Familiarity with business areas such as marketing, finance, sales, product, and more
