Senior Software Engineer (PeopleSoft)

The Role You Will Play

We are seeking an experienced Senior Peoplesoft Software Engineer to join us part of the Group Shared Services Delivery Unit with a focus on Group Finance and HCM support based at the Auckland Fanshaw Street Office. This role reports to the Chapter Lead SE - ERP Engineering, within the Applications and Development Chapter Area and will involve design and development in our PeopleSoft landscape and interfaces. 

What you will bring to this role 

  • Analyse, design, develop, document, and deliver new and amended software applications using PeopleCode and PeopleSoft relevant technologies. 
  • Assist in diagnosing, debugging, and solving technical issues within the PeopleSoft landscape and interfaced systems. 
  • Create integrations with other applications and services using RESTful API’s and other methods. 
  • Proactively collaborate within Squads, defining User Stories and other requirements artefacts for delivery through an agile environment, via sprint cycles. 
  • Provide mentorship for junior Software Engineers and share knowledge with peers, promoting best practices while aligning with MACH and DORA principles. 

Our ideal candidate:  

  • University degree in relevant area, (preferably computer science, engineering, information systems). 
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in PeopleSoft development, using PeopleTools and related technologies. 
  • Experience in areas of design, development, testing, deployment, maintaining and improving software.
  • Commitment to fast and consistent delivery through full automation of build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of Peoplecode, PeopleTools version 8.59 or above, PeopleSoft FSC (Finance), HCM (Global Payroll and Time & Labour), Oracle DBs, Unix/Linux infrastructure, PeopleSoft architecture and exposure to application integration.
  • Experience in Unix shell scripting and Payroll COBOL would be highly desirable.
  • PeopleSoft FSC and/or HCM functional experience is beneficial
  • Experience or interest in using cloud infrastructure services, particularly AWS and Microsoft Azure, as well as deployment technologies such as Docker, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Good understanding of Domain Driven Design, Microservices and CI/CD.
  • History of working collaboratively across software product teams of various disciplines in an Agile environment.
