Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Interior furnishings Trim Shop

Air New Zealand Engineering and Maintenance in Auckland has vacancies for a permanent Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Trim Shop role to join their team. This is a Monday to Friday day position.

In this role you will be performing soft fabrics Interior trim repairs and replacement to support our Air New Zealand Aircraft fleet including Boeing 777 and 787, Airbus A320/321 CEO/NEO.

Repair work is extensive and includes everything from:

  • Fabrication and replacement of carpets
  • Reupholstering leather BP seat screens, top caps and ottomans
  • Replacement of interior curtains, repair of cargo interior linings / nets.

The role also caters for the fabrication of ground support equipment covers and storage requirements for aircraft blanking as well as other related responsibilities.

We seek a person that is committed to a safe workplace, is passionately customer focused, and who is comfortable working as part of a team. You'll be adept at thinking outside the square while meeting compliance and company legislative/regulatory standards. Strong communication skills are critical, as well as the ability to relate and interact with a wide range of people on a day-to-day basis.

The technical skills you need:

  • You will have a strong understanding of the Air New Zealand values with the ability to focus on our goals of Safe/Compliant/Efficient
  • Proficient in the use of
    • Soft fabrics machining skills
    •  Industrial sewing machines
    • Carpet cutting and serging
    • Leather upholstery refurbishment.
  • Completed Aircraft Trade Apprenticeship - Aircraft industry or allied trade Level 4 National Certificate
