There is huge demand for insights from Air NZ's unique and complex data landscape. We need Analytics Engineers to work in cross-functional teams and bring robust, efficient, and integrated data models and products to life. Analytics Engineers speak the language of business teams and technical teams, able to translate data insights and analysis needs into models.
The role you will play:
- Collaborate with the team to analysis business problems, form business requirements, define analytics goals, and design data pipelines and models.
- Build trust in all interactions and with Trusted Data Development.
- Take ownership of key sections of the Enterprise Dimensional Model solutions.
- Develop and maintain dbt code for the Enterprise Dimensional Model.
- Maintain architecture and systems documentation following team standards.
- Manage the data catalog to support self-service and single-source analytics.
- Support business users and other team members in improving data literacy and learning modeling skills.
- Document models and curate metadata.
- Implement Data Ops principles in your work.
- Co-develop and adhere to internal standards for style and best practices (e.g., SQL Style Guide) and maintain these through code reviews.
- Take a forward-looking approach to contribute to the analytics and data engineering capabilities at Air New Zealand.
What you will bring to this role:
- 3+ years in data analysis, engineering, or a related role.
- Familiar with Agile way of working and decentralized analytics framework.
- 2+ years designing and implementing data modeling in an enterprise scale.
- 2+ years working with large-scale (1B+ rows) Data Warehouses/lake, in the cloud.
- 2+ years building data pipeline using integration tools, languages, and automation, ideally in AWS ecosystem.
- Understand reports and dashboards in data visualization tools.
- Experienced in project plans with clear tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
- Strong communicator, able to achieve consensus across technical and business teams.
- Experience explaining complex business and technical concepts clearly.
- Familiarity with business areas such as marketing, finance, sales, product, operation and more will be advantageous.
