Aviation Medical Officer

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Aviation Medical Officer to assist our Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in providing top-notch aviation and occupational medical services on a Part Time basis. This role is crucial in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and applicants across various business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CMO with aviation medical matters, including passenger medical clearances, infectious disease follow-ups, and on-board medical issues
  • Conduct medical examinations and assessments for employees and applicants, ensuring accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Provide Medical Review Officer (MRO) services under the company's Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Programme
  • Perform general occupational medical assessments and fitness-for-work evaluations
  • Contribute to or manage medical projects and research to achieve business objectives
  • Assist with pre-employment medical assessments and workplace drug testing processes
  • Conduct routine medical examinations of Group pilots under the supervision of the CMO and Aviation Medical Officer
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Safety and Health/Environmental (OSH/E) team to conduct workplace assessments and address health concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Broad postgraduate experience in aviation and occupational medicine
  • Background in general practice, emergency medicine, or intensive care is valuable
  • NZ Registered Medical Practitioner, trainee, or Fellow with the Faculty of Occupational Medicine
  • NZCAA Medical Examiner Grade 1 certification.
