Cargo Mentor (On-the-Job Trainer)

Kia ora!

Are you passionate about growing our people and lifting operational excellence? We’re recruiting for a Cargo Mentor (On-the-Job Trainer) to join the team based in Auckland.

As a Cargo Mentor, you’ll deliver hands-on mentoring to ensure our people are confident and capable in their roles, while identifying and supporting improvements in operational processes and procedures. You’ll provide ongoing coaching and feedback to help our teams thrive, and act as a role model, demonstrating best practice and fostering a positive, high-performing culture.

About the role:

  • Shift-Based: This position will follow the designated shift patterns. Our objective is to have a Mentor available for each shift, though this may vary by location based on size and training demands.
  • Operational Contribution: Mentors will fully contribute to operational demands, with trainees serving as additional resources. In the absence of mentoring duties, the Mentor will continue to perform operational functions as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver hands-on mentoring to ensure employees understand and can perform their job duties effectively.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in operational processes and procedures and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Offering ongoing support and advice to employees, helping them to develop their skills and confidence.
  • Assessing the progress of trainees and providing feedback to help them improve.
  • Acting as a role model, demonstrating best practices, and fostering a positive work environment.

As a Cargo Mentor, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring team members are well-trained, confident, and equipped to succeed in their cargo roles. You’ll provide hands-on guidance, share operational knowledge, and model best practices while working alongside staff in a live operational environment.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Strong communication skills and a solid understanding of operational training needs.
  • The credibility and confidence to influence leaders and peers alike.
  • A natural relationship builder who can inspire and support others.
  • A team player who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic environment.

If you’re ready to help shape the future of Cargo and grow our people from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today with your most recent CV.

Applications close 24/08/2025.
