The role involves:
- Developing and delivering Air New Zealand’s Government, Regulatory and Regional Affairs strategies, aligned with the airline’s priorities and with the aim of delivering long-term value for the business, and New Zealand as a whole.
- Building and sustaining trusted relationships with Members of Parliament, officials, regulators, local government and regional stakeholders.
- Lead advocacy on legislation, regulation and public policy, partnering with teams across the airline including Legal, Sustainability, Finance, Networks and Operational Integrity and Safety.

- Deep political acumen with proven ability to engage and influence Ministers, senior officials and diverse stakeholders with credibility and trust.
- Experience working within, or closely alongside, Parliamentary or political systems, with a strong understanding of government processes and decision making.
- Proven capability in anticipating, assessing and managing political, regulatory and reputational risk in fast moving and ambiguous contexts.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial judgment, with experience shaping policy positions that balance competing interests.
- Highly collaborative leadership style, with the ability to influence cross functionally without direct authority.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
- University degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
