Senior SAP Developer (ABAP, Fiori, BTP, RAP)

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Developer to join our Engineering Delivery Unit, supporting Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain & Aircraft Availability at our Auckland Airport Campus.
This role reports to the Chapter Lead SE – ERP Engineering, within the DevOps Chapter Area, and will involve advanced design and development across our SAP environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse, design, develop, and deliver new, or enhance SAP applications using ABAP, RAP, CDS Views, and OData services in S4 and ECC6.
  • App development and integration via SAP BTP.
  • Redevelop legacy applications (Custom Tcodes, Web Dynpro, etc.) into modern Fiori SAPUI5 (Elements & Freestyle) applications in BTP.
  • Follow clean core BTP ABAP Cloud and HANA Cloud database with RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model) architecture.
  • Design and maintain APIs (REST, OData) using BTP Integration Suite.
  • Promote and deploy changes using RevTrac, CI/CD pipelines (ADO Repos) and agile DevOps practices.
  • Implement Build Process Automation and Event Driven patterns.
  • Provide technical leadership: mentor junior engineers, share expertise, and influence architectural decisions.
  • Actively collaborate across squads, co-design user stories, and contribute to agile sprint cycles.

Our Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a free thinker with strong SAP development skills who is ready to work differently, solve problems creatively, and stretch beyond traditional SAP boundaries.

Specifically, you will have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 7–10 years’ experience in SAP development (ABAP, S/4HANA, ECC6), with strong hands-on delivery.
  • Proven development expertise with ECC6, S4, Fiori SAPUI5 (Freestyle & Elements), App Development and integrations using BTP Integration Suite.
  • Experience with RAP on SAP BTP ABAP Environment and SAP S/4HANA, on-premise as well as in the cloud.
  • Understanding of different platforms (e.g. AWS, etc.), other software coding (e.g., JavaScript, Node.js, Python) and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Exposure to AI/automation concepts and with a curiosity for applying emerging technologies in SAP and beyond.
  • Strong track record in API and integration design across SAP and non-SAP systems.
  • Experience across functional domains such as Supply Chain, Plant Maintenance, Manufacturing, Finance, and Maintenance Planning.
  • A collaborative mindset, able to work independently and in cross-functional agile teams.
