At Air New Zealand, our digital platforms rely on robust, secure and highly available infrastructure to operate at scale. We’re continuing to evolve our on-premise and hybrid environments and are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Operations Specialist to play a key technical role in keeping these platforms running reliably and efficiently.
This role is suited to an experienced infrastructure specialist who enjoys working close to the technology, solving complex operational problems, and improving the stability and performance of enterprise platforms.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Support and operate enterprise server, storage and database platforms, ensuring high availability, performance and reliability.
- Provide deep technical expertise across on-premise infrastructure environments, including incident, problem and change activities.
- Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Implement fixes, enhancements and integrations in line with vendor best practice and business requirements.
- Work closely with vendors and support partners to ensure services meet agreed SLAs and technical standards.
- Contribute to infrastructure design decisions and the ongoing evolution of our Infrastructure and Cloud services.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies to plan, prioritise and deliver operational and improvement work.
- Ensure infrastructure platforms meet security, safety and compliance requirements.
- Stay current with infrastructure and platform technologies, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, automation and operational efficiency.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be an experienced infrastructure professional who brings both technical depth and leadership capability, including:
- 5+ years’ experience supporting and operating server, storage and database platforms.
- Hands-on experience in large-scale, multi-vendor infrastructure environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure services, with the ability to resolve complex production issues.
- Experience working with vendors, support contracts and operational service delivery.
- Familiarity with ITIL-aligned service management and Agile ways of working.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver reliable outcomes.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A tertiary qualification in an ICT-related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
