Data Validator

Kia ora!

Air New Zealand is on an accelerated journey to deliver the best flying experience on Earth. Our purpose is to enrich our country by connecting New Zealanders to each other and New Zealand to the world. As part of our brand promise, we embrace Manaaki – taking care further than any other airline and creating meaningful experiences that empower and connect.

We’re looking for a Data Validation Specialist (Accounts Payable) to join our Group Shared Services team. This is a specialist role focused on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of supplier, invoice, and payment data that underpins Air New Zealand’s financial operations.

Sitting at the heart of our Accounts Payable function, you’ll work across multiple systems to validate high volumes of transactional data, reconcile invoice and payment exceptions, and support the timely and accurate processing of supplier payments. You’ll combine strong attention to detail with data analysis and continuous improvement thinking to reduce errors, strengthen controls, and improve how work gets done.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll be responsible for carrying out validation tasks to ensure Air New Zealand’s data is accurate, timely, and reliable. This includes:
  • Using strong Excel and data analysis skills to manage, prioritise, and improve high-volume financial workflows against SLAs
  • Investigate processing errors and data issues, applying root cause analysis and implementing practical, sustainable fixes
  • Produce clear reporting on volumes, trends, and exceptions to support operational decisions and continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and reduce manual effort, including basic automation and AI-enabled tools where appropriate
  • Support the business on complex payment and vendor issues, working collaboratively to resolve problems
  • Anticipate operational risks and bottlenecks, escalating and acting early to minimise impact.

What we’re looking for:

We’re after someone with a strong eye for detail, a methodical approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You’ll bring:

  • Experience working with large volumes of transactional data and applying rules, policies, or legislation accurately
  • Strong Excel capability (e.g. advanced formulas, data analysis, Power Query or similar), with interest in automation and AI-enabled tools
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to analyse issues, identify root causes, and suggest practical process improvements
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines without compromising quality or control
  • Clear, professional communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of financial transactions, reconciliations, and data integrity
  • Airline industry experience (advantageous but not essential).

Why join us?

At Air New Zealand, you’ll be part of a team that sits at the intersection of operations and finance helping ensure our airline runs smoothly and sustainably. You’ll gain exposure to complex systems and processes, collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders, and have the opportunity to develop into a subject matter expert in data validation.

If you’re highly accurate, enjoy problem-solving, and want to contribute to the smooth running of New Zealand’s national airline, this is the role for you.

Applications close on 25 January 2026.
