Financial Accountant (Finance Specialist (External Reporting))

We are recruiting for a Financial Accountant (Finance Specialist (External Reporting)) to join our wider Group Finance team providing statutory accounting, fixed asset, financial control and compliance support within the Air New Zealand Group.

Reporting to the Head of Finance – External Reporting and performing as a valued business partner you will be accountable for providing support to the external reporting team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Month-end financial close and reporting
  • Providing support for statutory reporting including preparing supporting documentation and responding to audit queries
  • Assisting with co-ordinating the external audit process
  • Liaising with project managers and monitoring of capital projects to ensure timely capitalisation
  • Depreciation and capital expenditure forecasting
  • Assist with overseeing balance sheet controls across the Group

You will enjoy applying your technical knowledge of financial accounting principles (GAAP) to challenge the status quo. Tertiary qualified you will have three or more years' experience in a finance team at a large corporate or chartered accountants’ firm.

You will be a strong communicator, both written and oral, and enjoy interacting with people across a broad spectrum of the organisation.  This role requires a high degree of engagement and a consultative approach to build effective relationships and provide advice to our financial and non-financial stakeholders (e.g. finance business partners, project managers and external auditors).
