QA Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Intermediate Quality Assurance Engineer (QA) to join our dynamic team at Air New Zealand. This role is vital to ensuring that our technical teams deliver high-quality solutions that align with our core values of excellence and customer focus. As a QA Engineer, you will apply your expertise in both test automation and manual testing to help enhance our testing capabilities and ensure the highest standards of quality across our software delivery process.
The role you will play:
- Use agile and lean methods (e.g., KANBAN, SCRUM) and participate in all stages of the development process, from inception through to release.
- Design, develop, and execute new automation scenarios based on functional and technical requirements and change requests.
- Maintain and monitor existing automation and regression testing, continuously refactoring test suites to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Apply software engineering principles to test engineering to ensure ongoing value and effectiveness of implemented test suites.
- Work closely with the squad and product owner, guiding the team through test analysis, design, planning, and execution to achieve high-quality software releases.
- Identify defects and work with relevant teams to assist in their resolution, suggesting ideas for effective and efficient solutions to improve software quality in the future.
- Collaborate with technical teams (architects, software engineers, QA’s, BA’s) to diagnose issues and enhance software design to facilitate automation.
- Ensure both manual and automated tests adhere to established testing processes, standards, and guidelines.
- Continuously assess and improve testing processes and methodologies to maximize the efficiency and quality of testing.
What you will bring to this role:
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer, with a strong focus on test automation.
- Strong experience with Java automation frameworks, CI/CD, test-driven development, and testing technologies.
- Proven experience in using test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured, JUnit, and TestNG.
- Solid understanding of various technical stacks, including Restful APIs, SOAP APIs, databases, SQL, and Kafka.
- Strong understanding of current quality assurance methodologies, best practices, and toolsets.
- Passion for driving results while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery at every stage of the development process.
- Proven experience working effectively and collaboratively with software product teams, addressing intra-team dependencies and facilitating smooth communication.
